PAINTER

Responsibilities

• Prepare, fill and prime surfaces for painting.
• Mix paint components and match colors.
• Apply paint with a brush, roller or spray gun.
• Apply plaster to surfaces.
• Work on and from ladders, platforms and scaffolds.
• Rig lines and scaffolds.

Minimum Qualifications

• Five years of full‑time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years; or
• At least three years of full‑time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years and sufficient full‑time satisfactory apprentice painter experience to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience (six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of apprentice painter experience).

Additional Information

• Candidates must have permanent civil service status in the title of Painter to be considered.

• Interagency transfers into NYCHA of those permanent in title are not permitted if an active NYCHA promotion or preferred list exists for the same title. NYCHA employees applying for transfer must have served one year at their current location and in their current title/level.
