Job Description
Position Summary: Under general supervision, the Painter cleans, prepares, and paints parts using specified procedures and techniques. Inspects incoming parts for flaws or lack of finish and notifies supervisor of exceptions.
- Performs basic metal preparation for specified paint applications.
- Ability to work independently with supervision (self-starter/self-motivated).
- Applies primer to parts and paint in accordance with AMSI and/or customer specifications and requirements.
- Aids in organizing and cleaning storage areas to maintain efficient operation.
- Reads and understands basic drawings and schematics.
- Assists in the preparation and painting process.
- Provides input on quality, cost, and production issues.
- Aids in the detection of defective material, unusual conditions, and reports to supervisor.
- Explain the location, use, and definition of MSDS.
- Accurate and timely completion of area specific documentation.
- Demonstrate safe crane operation and rigging fundamentals under direct supervision.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent. Military, trade school or community college coursework in hydraulic-mechanical assembly, repair, and troubleshooting desired.
Physical Requirements
- High level of physical flexibility, strength, and stamina required.
- See and assess drawings, photos, and written instructions.
- Audibly hear verbal instructions and mechanical signals (forklifts, cranes, machine alarms, etc.).
- Speak, read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Full range of body movement: head, neck, shoulders; lift arms overhead; work overhead; reach, lift, push/pull, walk, climb, kneel, bend; good dexterity and range of movement in fingers, hands and wrists.
- Sit for at least three hours.
- Stand on feet for at least three hours.
- Repetitively lift up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain confidence and balance while working on ladders up to 12 feet tall.
