Paint Shop Rework Technician

As a technical expert, you will perform Paintless Dent Repairs (PDR) and contribute to making mobility safer, simpler, and more sustainable. Responsibilities

• Perform Paintless Dent Repairs using PDR techniques and tools on small to midsize dents on vehicle exteriors to company standards.
• File, grind, sand, and smooth filled or repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
• Pound out small dents with hammers, pick hammers, or punches.
• Identify the most appropriate solutions to adjust or improve existing approaches.
• Plan work to be performed and position dolly blocks against dented areas to remove dents using tools such as hammers, metal dollies, air dent pullers, slide hammer dent pullers, and picks.
• Complete and ensure availability of appropriate documentation related to the production process.
• Perform quality and visual inspections.
• Modify existing processes, methods, and approaches as needed.
• Interpret or clarify technical information to aid understanding when required.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to junior team members.
• Participate in the Continuous Improvement Program and regularly scheduled team meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

• Required: 4+ years of relevant experience; OR Relevant certificate + 3 years of relevant experience; OR Relevant associate degree + 1 year of relevant experience.
• Preferred: 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Relevant certificate + 4 years of relevant experience; OR Relevant associate degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
• Able to perform the essential functions of the job.

Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of metal finishing techniques, including examining and feeling metal surfaces to detect defects such as dents, scratches, or breaks.
• Experience with sheet metal and automotive body repair and rework.
• Experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Spot welding experience is a plus.
• I-CAR training is a plus.
