Paid Internships - Native American field tech training program

Summer Cultural Preservation Internship Opportunity

The Illinois State Archaeological Survey in Partnership with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County is pleased to announce a paid summer internship program available to any interested Native American tribal members. This is a paid hourly position working alongside staff from ISAS as part of our First Peoples grant conducting survey and research in the Cook County Forest Preserves. No experience necessary.

• · working outdoors with a team of dedicated heritage preservation specialists,
• · helping to identify, protect, and preserve sensitive cultural resources within more than 11,000 acres of Forest Preserve lands,
• · learning to identify cultural artifacts and sites,
• · helping us report cultural sites according to the laws and regulations that protect public lands,
• · seeing how GPS, GIS, and other technology is used in the course of survey and reporting,
• No experience necessary, must be 18 years of age.

Work will be conducted in Cook County, and lodging, per diem, or transportation is not available.
