PACU Nurse

About the Role

As our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, you will take a leadership role in assessing patient and family health problems and resources, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing care plans. This position provides professional nursing care and interventions to acutely ill patient populations across all ages, from infancy to geriatric, within our dynamic Perioperative department.

You will serve as a patient advocate through holistic care practices, recognizing and adapting swiftly to changes in patient conditions (e.g., abnormal lab results, vital signs) in a timely and clinically appropriate manner. Utilizing the SBAR format for physician notification and performing bedside nurse-to-nurse reports are critical daily functions.

Call is required and is based on shift and patient volume.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgical procedures
• Administer medications as directed by physician
• Develop and implement nursing care plans for surgical patients
• Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients
• Organize and prioritize patient care activities balanced with the needs and comfort of the patient
• Review consent forms and answer questions about procedures
• Perform preoperative assessments
• Engage and motivate others, manage change, assume accountability for decisions, and effectively utilize resources

Requirements

• One (1) year RN experience within Critical Care (ICU, Telemetry, ER)
• Registered Nurse: AZ or Compact license
• American Heart Association BLS
• American Heart Association ACLS (within 30 days of hire)
• American Heart Association PALS (within 6 months of hire)

Qualifications

• Strong cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring skills
• BSN (preferred)
• One (1) year post-anesthesia care experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of surgical procedures and critical care background
• Pediatric experience (helpful)
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
• Basic computer skills

Pay

$35.00 - $58.63 per hour
