Packer Inspector - 2nd Shift - Full Time

Responsibilities

• Obtain empty cartons from conveyor or other sources.
• Prepare cartons to receive “stack packed” or “tumble packed” product and place cartons as necessary.
• Apply carton labels as defined in DPG Policy #002.
• Inspect bottles in accordance with DPG policy and the PQS form, based on customer specifications.
• Remove full cartons from packing stand or tumble pack area, then close the carton per DPG procedure and PQS sheet.
• Grind all clean scrap and rejected bottles generated by assigned machines.
• Complete and submit all required daily production reports to supervisor.
• Immediately notify Process Mechanics and/or supervisor of product quality issues or mechanical malfunctions.
• Enter production information into Plant Star automated system at shift completion, per DPG policy.
• Communicate machine operation or production issues to the next shift’s Packer/Inspector.
• Perform grinding, re-inspection, and quarantine duties in accordance with DPG policies.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas around equipment.
• Become and remain fully qualified to perform all aspects of the Packer/Inspector role as outlined in Job Competencies.
• Follow safety guidelines, Company policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Good mathematical skills for basic calculations, including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to read and interpret work-related materials to assess product quality.
• Demonstrated ability to make well-thought-out decisions and take appropriate action.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
• Vision correctable to 20/20 to read materials and identify product defects, including color and shading differences.
• Hearing acuity sufficient to understand spoken instructions or phone conversations in a factory environment.
• Ability to work overtime as required.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing environment experience preferred.
• Plastics industry experience a plus.

Physical Demands

• Manual dexterity and repetitive use of hands.
• Ability to talk and hear; work is performed indoors.
• Majority of the job requires walking and standing.
• Good motor skills and ability to continuously lift 5 lbs.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 55 lbs.
• Occasional bending, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, turning, twisting, pulling, and pushing.
• Close vision abilities required.

Work Environment

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and forklifts.
• Moderate to moderately loud noise levels.
