About the role

Artisanal Brewing Ventures (ABV) is a top 10 regional craft alcohol company in the US, comprising 5 successful craft brands with a combined history of 75+ years. ABV operates in 5 states, including taprooms, production facilities, and corporate headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures daily packaging activities on bottling and can lines are executed safely and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintains a clean work area, free from waste, glass, cardboard, etc.
  • Maintains correct attachment of packaging machine to bright tanks to prevent contamination
  • Ensures finished product is correct (right beer, label, crown, bottle and packaging)
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks and projects as directed by Packaging Supervisor, including cleaning, painting, disposing of old product, assembling packaging, taking inventory, light maintenance, recycling management, etc.
  • Operates packaging equipment (box shop, depalletizers, packers, wrappers, sealers, palletizers) or work in other departments as necessary
  • Completes PM projects as directed by supervisor or maintenance personnel
  • Reports any quality issues with glass, packaging or machinery to appropriate authority
  • Assists in improving the skills of less experienced personnel
  • Resolves maintenance issues with packaging equipment without assistance from maintenance personnel
  • Ensures completion of tasks in packaging logs
  • Performs fill-level checks
  • Ensures DO, CO2, and TPO analysis of packaged products are within specification
  • Ensures quality and appearance of finish product and communicates issues to supervisor to prevent loss of product

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience as a Packaging Associate or equivalent packaging or manufacturing operations experience
  • Familiarity with brewery safety programs and priority commitment to operator safety
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Understanding of brewery sanitation and food safety programs
  • Safety and quality focused in all work activities, including proper use of required PPE
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to multitask
  • Basic knowledge of brewing and cellaring processes
  • Able to work second shift: Monday through Friday, 1:45pm-10:15pm

Qualifications

  • Physical requirements: able to lift at least 55 lbs. from ground level, move 165 lbs. of kegged beer, stand for long periods, bend over, twist, climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl, use small hand tools, including wrenches and a small propane blow torch, use hands for fine manipulation, reach with hands and arms, identify product deficiencies, climb and descend ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces
  • Physical abilities: close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Work environment: exposure to damp, wet environments with hot liquids, airborne particles, chemicals, and moving machinery; noise level can be very loud
