Packaging Lead
8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.
Location
The Eugene, Oregon plant produces both organic and non-organic granola, with annual production of up to 52 million pounds. The site supports a team of more than 200 manufacturing and support employees and plays an important role in supplying private label granola products across the U.S. Eugene is known for its strong focus on sustainability, outdoor recreation, and innovation. Responsibilities
The 8th Avenue Packaging Lead is responsible for coordinating line workers’ activities to ensure assigned production goals are met in compliance with all quality and safety SOPs and GMPs. The successful candidate will monitor, manage, and maintain equipment, crew, and packaging operator processes to ensure compliance with GMPs and safety standards.
- Manage production processes to meet “Best in Class” production standards and goals.
- Coordinate with supervisor and other Leads to establish schedules, job assignments, and production sequences.
- Monitor, manage, and maintain equipment, crew, and packaging operator processes for GMP and safety compliance.
- Communicate with other departments (QA, Maintenance, Sanitation, etc.) as necessary.
- Resolve employee issues with Supervisor and take appropriate action.
- Attend training seminars/classes as needed.
- Deliver, conduct, and coordinate training activities within the department.
- Manage work assignments of crew members.
- Coordinate break rotation schedules in compliance with labor laws while maintaining production flow.
- Communicate line production information during shift-change hand-off for smooth transitions.
- Inspect raw materials and finished goods to ensure safe, high-quality food standards.
- Ensure all quality checks are completed accurately and timely.
- Collect and deliver samples to QA as instructed in each batch ticket.
- Monitor processes and finished goods to catch and resolve errors or malfunctions promptly.
- Support and maintain Food Safety and Quality programs.
- Replenish supplies and ensure proper tools are available for efficient production.
- Resolve machine malfunctions or processing errors to resume production of safe, quality product.
- Monitor and verify reporting and tracking for proper traceability.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area.
- Report hazards and pest sightings to appropriate departments for timely resolution.
- Perform production data entry via computer.
- Ensure performance reports are filled out accurately and timely.
- Ensure all items on line shadow boards are intact and accounted for.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1+ years experience in a fast-paced manufacturing production environment.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution (preferred).
- Effective verbal and written communication with all team members.
- Respect co-workers in actions and communication.
- Ability to relieve any position on the line and work independently at speed.
- Proficiency with computers and software.
- Punctuality and availability to work overtime and weekends upon request.
- Ability to operate manual and electric pallet jacks, and walkie-stackers.
- ATP Testing certified.

Pay
$20+ per hour depending on experience. 3rd shift differential is $1.50/hr.
