About the Role

The Packaging Lead is responsible for the safe and accurate packaging and labeling of all products. Working with the Packaging Manager, the Packaging Lead ensures packaging schedules are executed while maintaining the chain of integrity of premium cannabis products from processing to patient.

Responsibilities

• Arrive before the rest of the team to set up workstations for the day, including tables, chairs, weight scales, product buckets, and packaging materials.
• Ensure work areas are maintained in accordance with operational, sanitation, and safety SOPs.
• Communicate with the manager to determine the production plan, crew setup, and daily tasks.
• Display and maintain the scheduling on a whiteboard.
• Supervise the room, maintain a safe work environment, and assist team members as needed.
• Manage system movements in LEAF LOGIX by following SOPs.
• Assist with METRC collection, ensuring accurate tracking and logging.
• Ensure processors stay on track and work to their fullest potential.
• Alert the manager before leaving the room to ensure supervision coverage.
• Train newly hired employees on tasks to meet daily production goals.
• Supervise cleanup at the end of the shift, ensuring everything is clean, swept, and put away properly.
• Foster a positive work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect while promoting curiosity about cannabis.

Requirements

• Must meet age requirements as outlined by state cannabis agencies.
• Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies.
• Able to provide valid badging/credentials as required by state cannabis agencies.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; equivalent combination of work/education experience accepted.
• 1-3 years’ experience working in a regulated environment, such as commercial food/medical production or clean room processes, with knowledge of labeling rules and regulations.
• Experience in a high-volume production facility or continuous production line.
• Familiarity with packaging technologies such as automated flow-wrapping, bottle filling, blister packing, backer carding, and heat shrinking equipment.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals, and fumes (systems are in place to mitigate exposure).
• Work area may be odorous and loud due to fans and filtration systems, with fluctuating temperatures.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting, standing, and walking required throughout the shift.
• Constant movement of hands, fingers, and limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
• Constant operation of extraction machinery and productivity equipment.
• Ability to inspect and detect quality defects.
• Occasional lifting, positioning, or moving items up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work on weekends or alternate shifts.
