About the role

The Pacific West Conservation Crew Member-Southern California is responsible for performing a variety of conservation tasks in support of the mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vegetation management activities including prescribed burning, mowing, and herbicide application.
  • Assist with wildlife monitoring and habitat restoration projects.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as tractors and bulldozers.
  • Participate in safety training and follow all safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a Department of Transportation (DOT) card.
  • Experience with heavy equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of conservation practices and wildlife biology.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong physical fitness and stamina.

Skills

  • Proficiency with GPS and GIS software.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Pay

  • $20.00 per hour.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
