About the role

Partner with key department, project, and program stakeholders to develop and implement controls measures to better manage project financials, mitigating financial losses. You’ll also develop measures to optimize project cost planning analysis, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, managing data, financial performance, accounting protocols, and system integrations. This position is based in Northern California (Sacramento and the Bay Area) and follows a hybrid schedule with several work-in-office days per month, including as-necessary travel to client offices and sites.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to develop and implement controls measures for managing project financials to mitigate financial losses.
  • Develop project schedules to control cost plans, conduct ongoing cost plan analysis, and perform variance and earned value analysis.
  • Collaborate on the development of project and annual budgets, budget forecast planning, reporting, performance management, and account data requests.
  • Provide financial tracking system management and support.
  • Manage orders from inception through completion, ensuring all required documentation is entered in the current software system.
  • Maintain scope change, contingency release, change order, and journal entry logs.
  • Maintain written and electronic project documentation and records, including:
    • Project files in accordance with established guidelines.
    • Change order requests, project status, key issues, risks, resolution, priority changes, and approvals.
  • Provide the Project Manager with a monthly report of project costs and/or schedule information, including variance analysis.
  • Provide Project Team members with current status reports containing schedule and cost information.
  • Comply with Utility Operations Policies, Standards, and Guidelines.
  • Analyze financial results monthly, providing explanations of significant cost drivers to PM Leadership.
  • Develop project schedules and cash flow/forecast plans with functional department input in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Monitor financial progress and maintain the Project Manager’s order group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required).
  • 5+ years of Primavera P6 experience.
  • 5+ years of project controls experience.
  • Experience functioning in a project controls capacity where you developed, implemented, and drove project controls measures for large-scale complex projects.
  • Experience managing project cost, forecasts, budgets, and conducting financial reporting (developing, creating, analyzing, packaging, and presenting) for large-scale capital projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel (formulas, macros, pivot tables, vlookup, dashboards), SAP, Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Valid driver’s license without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within construction, energy, utilities, engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical), consulting, or related industries.

Pay

This position pays between $98,000 and $135,000 annually and is an exempt position. The specific amount within this range will be influenced by work location, internal equity, professional skills, work experience, and pertinent education or training.
