About the role

The P&A Business Development Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting revenue growth and increasing the brand presence of Yamaha in the market through initiatives that focus on Parts, Accessories, Apparel, Yamalube, and Licensing businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identifies and implements opportunities to grow Parts, Accessories, Apparel, Yamalube, and Licensing businesses.
  • Monitors market trends, competitor activities, and customer demand signals to surface actionable opportunities.
  • Supports development and execution of new business partnerships, licensing opportunities, and supplier relations.
  • Pairs with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Product Teams to develop and implement growth initiatives.
  • Aligns internal stakeholders on priorities, timelines, and expected outcomes.
  • Manages the day-to-day administration of licensed products and apparel business, including contract agreements, product approvals, and overseeing artwork reviews.
  • Coordinates day-to-day activities related to apparel and licensing, including communication with licensees, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Helps ensure proper use of trademarks, logos, and brand assets across all licensed and apparel products.
  • Collaborates with suppliers and licensees to resolve issues related to product quality, labeling, packaging, or brand compliance.
  • Leads the development, review, and approval of Basic Purchase Agreements (BPA) in collaboration with Supply Chain, Legal, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Reviews and routes product concepts, artwork, and samples for internal approval to ensure compliance with brand guidelines, trademark usage rules, and quality standards.
  • Manages licensing agencies to solicit potential licensees and assists in developing sales presentations and materials.
  • Coordinates onboarding of new licensees, including contract setup, and internal process requirements.
  • Aids in managing licensing contracts, including tracking agreement status, renewal dates, compliance requirements, and required documentation.
  • Maintains licensee performance and assists in tracking sales reports, royalty reports, and contractual obligations.
  • Supports the Product Line Manager on long-term strategy and goals.
  • Prepares and presents monthly status reports, including sales, inventory, royalties, and project updates.
  • Ensures licensed, apparel, and supplier sourced accessories align with brand strategy and business objectives.
  • Develops an initial sales forecast and oversees the lifecycle management of Apparel, Yamalube, non-genuine accessories, and licensed products.
  • Maintains organized digital and physical files related to contracts, approvals, artwork, product records, and J-Sox compliance.
  • Collaborates with Multi-Cultural Cross-Functional Teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Sales, or other Business-related field.
  • 3-5 years of Powersports or Motorsports experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of brand marketing experience preferred.
  • Experience in sales strategy development, financial and category analysis, consumer marketing, product placement, and competitive and trend analysis.
  • Prior Powersports accessory, apparel, or licensing experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Powersports industry preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with vendors, suppliers, or licensees preferred.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Basic understanding of licensing, trademarks, and branded merchandise programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Sales or other Business-related course of study is required.
