Schedule

12 hour shifts available, 7pm-7am

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients presenting in the Emergency Department (ED).
  • Perform psychiatric admission evaluations, and diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health disorders in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications ensuring that treatment plans are effective and adjusted as needed.
  • Create individualized treatment plans that include medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions.
  • Perform chart audits, peer review, meetings, and provider management.
  • Maintain up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and standards of care.
  • Maintain and monitor confidentiality of patients and their files; audit files to ensure all services provided are documented; review status of patients to verify that all treatment and therapeutic programs are completed.
  • Work closely with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and staff to provide integrated and coordinated care.
  • Provide immediate psychiatric care in crisis situations, such as suicide attempts or acute psychiatric episodes, and work to prevent incidents through proactive mental health management.
  • Comply with the requirements of applicable regulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, standards, and/or contracts.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina (NC) medical license (additional FL and TX preferred or compact license (PSYPACT)).
  • 2 years of inpatient experience (trauma experience required).
  • Board Certified or Eligible (within 1 year of residency completion) in Psychiatry.
  • Valid and unrestricted DEA.
  • Proficient in using telemedicine technologies to treat patients remotely.
  • Open to PMHNP collaboration (preferred).
