Position Summary

The Overnight Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive environment for residents during overnight hours. This position conducts routine safety checks, monitors the facility, responds appropriately to resident needs and emergencies, and maintains accurate documentation throughout the shift. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive, calm under pressure, and able to remain alert throughout the overnight shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hourly bed checks to support resident safety and well-being.
  • Monitor the security of the facility, including doors, windows, and surveillance systems.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to resident needs, emergencies, behavioral concerns, or other incidents.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including incident reports and shift logs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, peaceful, and orderly environment throughout the overnight shift.
  • Provide basic first aid or follow established emergency procedures when necessary and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and follow all organizational policies and applicable requirements.
  • Identify and report unusual activity, maintenance concerns, safety issues, or behavioral incidents to supervisory staff.
  • Participate in effective shift handoffs and communicate relevant information to incoming staff.
  • Maintain a calm, respectful, professional, and resident-centered demeanor at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in residential services, supportive housing, care settings, security, or a related environment preferred.
  • Ability to remain awake, attentive, and alert throughout the overnight shift.
  • Strong observation, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete required documentation accurately.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility and respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

This position operates in a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare and housing services environment supporting staff who work directly with vulnerable populations. This position works primarily during overnight hours in a supportive housing or group-living environment. The Overnight Monitor will interact with residents who may have physical, mental health, behavioral, or other support needs and must be able to respond with professionalism, sound judgment, respect, and appropriate boundaries.

  • Daily travel within the service area required
