Overnight Emergency Veterinary Assistant

Pay

• $19.30 - $28.50 / hour
• Competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked.
• Nights and weekends receive additional pay based on a 4-hour minimum.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency cases as they come in.
• Aid DVMs in crafting and reviewing estimates as needed.
• Perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc).
• Set up and discharge patients.
• Handle client communication.
• Provide nursing care according to hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand and monitor therapeutic response to commonly used medications.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exams, including counting heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with ASA I or II classified patients.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in designated roles.
