Overhead Crew - All Positions (Foreman/A, B , C Lineman/Operator/Groundman
About the role
Sumter Utilities, Inc. (a Quanta Services company) seeks entire Overhead Crews (Foreman/A Lineman/B Lineman/C Lineman/Operator/Groundman). Successful candidates will possess existing experience working together as a construction crew. Preference may also be given to candidates who are able to bring along additional qualified candidates to form entire work crews.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision & technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices and Groundmen performing maintenance & construction on all electrical distribution and associated equipment projects.
- Communicate, demonstrate and enforce safety requirements and best practices.
- Manage supplies, materials and equipment.
- Assist with planning, directing and budget activities concerned with the construction of a pole line and other electrical material and equipment used for distribution line construction projects.
- Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scopes of work.
- Communicate directly with General Foremen, Superintendents, Construction Managers, Project Managers, Line Crews and other project personnel as required.
- Understand and follow detailed construction schedules.
Requirements
- Able/willing to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
- Able/willing to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
- Able/willing to work Overtime, when required.
- Total commitment to safety and compliance.
Qualifications
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints and scopes of work.
- Ability to work at heights up to and above 60 feet preferred.
- Must have a quality work ethic and be committed to optimal Customer Service.
Skills
- Proficient in all aspects of energized line work.
- Proficient in understanding and reading blueprints.
- Proficient in operation of Bucket Truck, Digger Derrick, Backhoe, etc.
- Proficient in Pole/Tower Climbing.
- Proficient in heavy lifting and rigging.
- Familiar with induced voltage.
- Familiar with grounding procedures.
- Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
- Capable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up.
- Capable of climbing different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possessing the necessary tools to do so.
- Understanding of how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
- Understanding of proper use of phasing sticks.
- Understanding of minimum approach distance.
- Understanding of flag and tag procedures.
- Understanding of bucket rescue/escape.
- Knowledge to properly inspect rubber goods, covers and PPE.
