Outside Specification Sales

About the role

The primary responsibility of the Specification Sales position is to develop and maintain sales as well as a good working relationship with assigned accounts while collaborating with all departments to facilitate follow‑through on orders.

Responsibilities

• Call on customers and develop long‑term accounts through expert service, lighting specification, and relationship building.
• Meet or exceed established sales goals, making at least 3‑5 new sales calls per day.
• Maintain profitability by meeting sales goals and managing expenses.
• Make a minimum of three proactive product presentations per week.
• Develop quick rapport, assess customer needs, and identify the lighting specification for their projects.
• Work with management and manufacturing partners on training to become an expert in all lighting products and other market offerings.
• Understand all aspects of customer and sales service, including order entry, returns, obtaining catalog numbers and pricing on replacement parts, and various elements of project management.
• Demonstrate strong social skills, confidence, desire and ability to sell, and ultimately secure orders.
• Be passionate about working in a team atmosphere and helping others.
• Successfully complete all other duties assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

• Degree or Lighting Certified (LC) preferred, with at least three years of experience in the lighting industry.
• Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations to customers.
• Cognitive ability to learn and adapt quickly.
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD, Revit, and AGI32 preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in a B2B sales environment with a record of achieving sales goals and growth.
• Experience preparing project quotations.
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and internet search engines.
