Outside Sales Representative – Industrial Automation Controls

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow sales of industrial automation products including VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, motion control, sensors, and industrial networking equipment (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
- Manage and expand an existing customer base while identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Work closely with customers to understand applications, challenges, and system requirements, providing technically sound solutions.
- Deliver product presentations, demonstrations, and technical training to customers and channel partners.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, product management, and support teams to ensure successful solution design and implementation.
- Support customers through the full sales cycle, from specification and proposal through commissioning support when required.
- Develop quotations, proposals, and technical documentation tailored to customer applications.
- Track opportunities, forecasts, and customer activity using CRM tools.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging automation technologies.
- Represent the company at trade shows, customer visits, and industry events as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of successful sales experience in industrial automation or controls.
- Proven experience selling VFDs and PLC-based control systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial networking protocols and architectures.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, control system architectures, and industrial specifications.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Able to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory as required.
- Experience working with OEMs, system integrators, and manufacturing end users.
- Familiarity with major automation platforms and drive manufacturers.
- Background in industries such as manufacturing, material handling, water/wastewater, food and beverage, or energy.
