Outside Plant Engineer I/II

Kinetic, a business unit of Uniti (NASDAQ: UNIT), is a premier provider of multi‑gigabit fiber internet, whole‑home Wi‑Fi, internet security, and voice services across 1,400 markets in 18 states. This position can be filled in the following Pennsylvania markets: Waynesburg, Meadville, Brookville, State College, and Ephrata.

About the role

Kinetic’s team of Outside Plant Engineers connects consumer and small business partners to leading telecommunications products across the United States. In this role you will create meaningful connections with customers, build long‑term relationships, and solve complex problems for business and residential customers using copper cable, fiber cable, and electronics. The position involves approximately 70% field work and 30% office work on average (varies by market). Ability to travel overnight and out of the market up to 25% of the time is required.

Responsibilities

• Engineer/design outside plant facilities including fiber and copper
• Assist in the planning, analysis, design, and engineering of outside plant network structures and facilities
• Organize complex activities for the development, construction, implementation, and maintenance of outside plant engineering projects
• Utilize sound engineering practices and company objectives to resolve issues creatively and effectively
• Communicate skillfully to establish and maintain positive, productive working relationships and drive projects to completion
• Engineer/design projects to ensure cost‑effective utilization of materials and labor
• Perform administrative work relating to projects and assignments
• Assess situations, collaborate, identify key issues, and solve complex problems

Requirements

• Strong and effective technical communication skills, both verbal and written
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Ability to be a self‑starter and work with little guidance
• Ability to work in a self‑directed work group, collaborate easily with others, and be a team player
• Ability to analyze problems and priorities and make decisions
• A love of solving problems and building solutions
• College degree in Engineering or a related field and 2–4 years professional‑level experience; or 6+ years professional‑level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional‑level related Engineering/Technical experience
• This is a safety‑sensitive position

Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/E, MicroStation, AutoCAD, 3GIS, or other similar design programs
• Experience with Katapult Pro for gathering pole data
• Previous telecommunication engineering experience or courses in engineering
• Experience working with city, county, and/or state agencies and other utility companies
