Outside Parts and Service Salesperson - Yakima, WA
About the role
Gordon Truck Centers, Inc. (GTC) is seeking an Outside Parts and Service Sales Representative to join our team at the Freightliner Northwest location in Yakima, WA. In this role, you will provide parts needs to wholesale and fleet customers at their place of business and promote services available through our service department. GTC is a premier dealership family in the Pacific Northwest, offering a network of 19 dealerships under brands such as Freightliner Northwest, Western Star Northwest, TrailerCraft, Western Mountain Bus, and Freightliner of Hawaii. We specialize in selling, financing, insuring, and servicing commercial trucks for medium and heavy-duty applications.
Responsibilities
- Become a reliable and trusted business source for customers, ensuring a positive reception for future solicitation calls.
- Understand the customer’s business and their specific needs.
- Respond quickly to customer parts, service, or information requests.
- Identify sales opportunities, prospect for new business, and sell additional parts and services to existing customers.
- Address customer parts and service needs, including fulfilling parts requests from stock, procuring locally, or creating parts orders.
- Prospect for new Parts & Service Department customers through phone solicitation.
- Use structured presentations to introduce new items or services during solicitation calls.
- Support dealership customer satisfaction programs and concern resolution initiatives.
- Assist with customer inventory or other sales and marketing programs.
- Perform other duties as required by business needs.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
- 2-4+ years of experience in parts sales.
- Experience with heavy-duty truck parts (required).
- Experience in customer needs assessment, satisfaction, and sales techniques.
- Valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and ability to meet daily vehicle travel requirements.
Skills
- Knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts and equipment.
- Professional, safety-minded, dependable, and motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as active listening skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and work with minimal supervision.
Job Conditions
- Physical demands include standing, bending, stretching, telephone use, and computer keyboard operation. Some heavy lifting may be required.
- Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to noise from operational departments and moving mechanical parts/vehicles.
- For insurability and safety, GTC uses front and rear-facing dash cameras in all company vehicles.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Occasional off-hour shifts or special events may be required due to GTC’s 24/7 facility operations.
Pay
This is a base salary + commission position, with earnings starting at $65,000 and up based on performance.
