Outreach Specialist
Key Job Responsibilities
- Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
- Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
- Affords assistance with additional OMA-HPL student development initiatives and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean and Director of OMA-HPL.
- Led the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
- Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
- Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
Department
The Office of Multicultural Affairs Health Professions Learners (OMA-HPL) provides academic support for students historically underrepresented in medical professions and creates a learning environment that fosters academic success for all students. The OMA-HPL promotes student success while also leading the School of Medicine and Public Health at the UW Madison (UWSMPH) outreach initiatives to increase the number of public health minded students entering the health professions.
Compensation
The starting salary wage for the position is $55,000 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and sick leave; competitive insurances and savings accounts; retirement benefits.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year, full-time professional experience in student outreach, pathways programs, or student support; particularly in a higher education setting, with a focus on supporting students from underrepresented and/or historically marginalized backgrounds, student recruitment, and/or graduate program preparation.
- Experience in event planning, coordination, and execution (scheduling learner activities, coordinating programs and events, preparing professional documents and program materials, maintaining accurate records, and meeting assigned deadlines).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
- Demonstrated administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education
- Experience with digital tools for content creation, presentation design, and team collaboration including Canva, Adobe, PowerPoint, Teams, Google Drive, and Box
