Outreach Specialist
Opportunity
Conduct Community Outreach: Visit shelters, treatment facilities, soup kitchens, and community locations to connect with veterans.
Build Relationships: Establish rapport with veterans and community partners to encourage engagement in services.
Cook Up Referrals: Schedule screenings, transportation, and referrals for veterans entering programs.
Track Client Information: Maintain databases and documentation related to outreach activities and referrals.
Support Program Events: Assist with transportation and coordination for outreach activities and special events.
Collaborate with Providers: Work with external agencies and partners to collect required documentation and coordinate services.
Produce Reports: Maintain outreach logs and weekly reports of veterans engaged by the outreach team.
Attend Outreach Meetings: Attend outreach meetings and collaborate with staff across programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in social services required (Employment at U.S.VETS for at least 3 months may substitute for experience).
- Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field preferred.
- Experience working with veterans and/or individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems.
- Valid driver’s license required; must meet company insurance requirements and complete driver training.
