Job Summary

This position is based out of the Southbridge Shelter, which is operated by The Other Ones Foundation (TOOF) in collaboration with the Homeless Strategy Office (HSO). The Southbridge Shelter serves individuals experiencing homelessness in encampments identified by HSO. The primary aim is to navigate individuals to housing and provide comprehensive, wrap-around support throughout the process. Addressing mental health, medical, and substance use needs are common goals.

About the Role

Outreach and Engagement Specialists provide services to individuals experiencing homelessness who may be diagnosed with severe mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, and/or chronic health conditions. The focus of this work is to connect individuals with resources and services to ultimately assist them in obtaining housing. Services delivered are based on trauma-informed and safer suicide care interventions. Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) embrace trauma-sensitive and informed practices, provide Suicide Safer care, and foster a supportive and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

  • Navigate individuals to housing and provide comprehensive, wrap-around support
  • Address mental health, medical, and substance use needs
  • Connect individuals with resources and services
  • Deliver services based on trauma-informed and safer suicide care interventions
  • Provide individual, family, and/or group skills training using evidence-based interventions
  • Crisis assessment and case management
  • Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Experience: 1 year working with unhoused individuals and/or community outreach experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Pay

$24.18 - $25.39, based on education.

Schedule

Full-Time. Workdays: Monday - Friday. Workhours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM.
