Outpatient Psychiatrist
Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary Behavioral Health team in an outpatient setting. This part-time, hospital-employed position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to patients across a broad spectrum of mental health conditions, promoting long-term wellness and recovery.
About the Role
As a Psychiatrist, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients while developing individualized treatment plans. You will work collaboratively with behavioral health professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a collegial environment with strong clinical support. This role includes shared call rotation, opportunities for hybrid work, and engagement in medical education through supervision and teaching of psychiatry residents.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a broad spectrum of mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.
- Participate in a shared call rotation.
- Supervise and teach psychiatry residents.
- Maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
- Prescribe medications and instruct patients on correct usage.
- Develop and present educational programs or workshops.
- Observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Adhere to legal and ethical standards for medical care.
Requirements
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) with successful completion of a residency and internship.
- Experience in psychiatric care, including residency in a related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Current New York State medical license.
- Federal DEA Certification.
- Proficiency in EPIC EMR.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
