About the role

The Bronson Gastroenterology practice in Southwest Michigan is seeking a BE/BC Gastroenterologist to join a well-established and respected group. The practice consists of five outpatient gastroenterologists, one hospitalist gastroenterologist, and five advanced practice providers. The opportunity includes participation in some inpatient work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating patients to meet their medical needs.
  • Provide education on wellness, prevention, and early detection to patients and families.
  • Determine necessary referrals based on examinations and patient needs.
  • Determine the urgency of follow-up, referral, and consultation appointments.
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
  • Document all services in the patient's medical record.
  • Review long-term cases that require ongoing medical attention.
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other professionals on staff regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
  • Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs.
  • Assist in resolving complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients.

Requirements

  • Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required.
  • Current Medical License in the state of Michigan.
  • Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration.
  • Maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
