About the role
The Bronson Gastroenterology practice in Southwest Michigan is seeking a BE/BC Gastroenterologist to join a well-established and respected group. The practice consists of five outpatient gastroenterologists, one hospitalist gastroenterologist, and five advanced practice providers. The opportunity includes participation in some inpatient work.
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating patients to meet their medical needs.
- Provide education on wellness, prevention, and early detection to patients and families.
- Determine necessary referrals based on examinations and patient needs.
- Determine the urgency of follow-up, referral, and consultation appointments.
- Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
- Order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
- Document all services in the patient's medical record.
- Review long-term cases that require ongoing medical attention.
- Consult with the Medical Director and other professionals on staff regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
- Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs.
- Assist in resolving complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients.
Requirements
- Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required.
- Current Medical License in the state of Michigan.
- Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration.
- Maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
- Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
