The County of Riverside’s Department of Public Social Services, Children’s Services Unit seeks qualified candidates for the position of Children's Social Services Supervisor II. As a member of the team you will plan, organize and direct the work of a unit of professionally trained Social Workers. Responsibilities

• Plans, assigns, and directs the work of a unit of professionally trained Social Services Workers performing difficult or complex casework in such areas as adoptive placements, protective services, home studies.
• Affords assistance in the development of community resources for all programs; assists and participates in the development of in-service training and staff development programs.
• Makes or reviews decisions on difficult casework matters involving the casework being performed under direct supervision.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of policies and procedures.
• Represents the department at conferences and addresses concerns raised by groups relative to assigned areas of responsibility; may represent the agency on matters relating to the service aspects of programs.
• Evaluates the performance of subordinates and takes or recommends appropriate courses of action.
• Makes or reviews decisions on difficult casework matters involving the casework being performed under direct supervision.
• Utilizes a centralized database to review work, assign cases, approve various case actions, etc.
• Data entry of complex and lengthy narratives into a client complaint database.
• Expected to maintain quick response time to heavy email volume.

Requirements

• Knowledge of: Social casework objectives, principles, and methods with special emphasis on physical or mental disability, rehabilitation, and severe economic dependency; facilities and resources in the fields of public health, mental health, education, and correction and rehabilitation as they relate to public social services; the techniques used in providing casework consultation to staff members; provisions of the California Welfare and Institutions Code pertaining to public assistance; the principles of community organization; social service research methods; public and private health and social service programs; the principles and techniques of training, personnel management, and supervision; basic computer skills.
• Ability to: Plan, organize, and direct the work of subordinate staff; organize and interpret data pertinent to caseload management; classify case problems and evaluate the effectiveness of efforts in solving problems; interpret programs and effectively apply casework knowledge’s and skills; provide effective leadership in staff development; organize and maintain cooperative relationships with community groups and resource agencies; coordinate the efforts of a large staff; effectively train staff in casework methods and techniques; speak effectively and conduct conferences; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; input and retrieve data from computerized system.

Qualifications

• Education: Possession of a Master's of Social Work degree from a recognized school of social work OR Possession of a Master of Science degree in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or Counseling from a recognized two year counseling program which included 300 hours of field placement experience AND Experience: Two years of post Master's degree social case planning/case management experience in a public or private agency performing duties equivalent to Riverside County’s Children’s Social Services Worker IV/V or Social Services Worker IV/V classification.
• Education: Possession of Master's degree from a recognized college in social or behavioral sciences, social welfare, social/human services, or a closely related field AND Experience: Three years of post Master's degree social case planning/case management experience in a public or private agency performing duties equivalent to Riverside County’s Children’s Social Services Worker IV/V or Social Service’s Worker IV/V classification.
• Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college in social welfare, social or behavioral sciences, social/human services, counseling or a closely related field AND Experience: Three years experience as a Children’s Social Services Worker V or Social Services Worker V. A Master’s Degree in one of the above sciences is preferred.
• Education: Possession of a Master's of Social Work degree from a recognized school of social work OR Possession of a Master of Science degree in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or Counseling from a recognized two year counseling program which included 300 hours of field placement experience AND Experience: Two years experience as a Children Social Services Worker III/IV/V and one year experience as a Program Specialist II - Children Services.
• Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college in social welfare, social or behavioral sciences, social/human services, counseling or a closely related field AND Experience: Three years experience as a Children Social Services Worker III/IV/V and one year experience as a Program Specialist II -Children Services.

Pay

This position offers a bonus plan up to $10,000 over a five year period.
