About the role
The OST Educator will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum, supervise children, maintain the program site, and connect families to the Y.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a group of children and program activities.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y.
- Maintain the program site, equipment, and required program records.
- Nurture children through purposeful programming.
- Create a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth.
- Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Provide opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and choices within the program.
- Provide and welcome ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child's needs and progress.
- Project a professional image.
- Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at minimum 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Previous experience working with children (at least 6 months) required.
- Meets minimum age standards as established by state law and/or the Y.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required; or within 60 days of hire.
- Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
- Previous experience working with diverse populations preferred.

Pay
$16.00 per hour.
Schedule
Monday-Friday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm (will also take candidates who are only interested to work for the summer (June-August)).
