Reporting to the GRIP Grant Project Administration Manager, the Operational Technology (OT) Network Engineer is a highly skilled technical position that is responsible for network operations including to administer, maintain and improve all critical infrastructure industrial control systems supporting the City's electric utility. This position involves the installation, configuration and compliance of SCADA, Human Machine Interface, network switches, routers, firewalls, virtualized servers, security and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain operational technologies including SCADA systems, VMware, Windows server, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless radio systems
  • Document existing architectures, and update documentation as the modifications are made
  • Manage backups, replication and a disaster recovery plan
  • Implement and maintain best practices including compliance with government regulations
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the City of Lake Worth Beach staff, technology providers and contractors
  • Plan, install, and maintain physical and logical network and network infrastructure devices such as routers, switches, backup systems, security appliances, network security, server hardware, server operating systems, networked applications, and physical connectivity
  • Manage and maintain network operations and associated equipment; remote access systems, cabling, VPN clients, Windows-based operating systems, and other networked and/or stand-alone applications
  • Perform advanced server operations on Windows server platforms
  • Responsible for backup, restore, and data/server replication and patching
  • Keep current on updates and inform management and department members as changes may affect data and voice network operations
  • Take a leadership role with the data networks

Qualifications

  • Must have been employed in the Network Engineer field for the past one to two years performing the duties outlined in this job description
  • Valid Florida driver's license, with vehicle available to get to other City locations
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • All full-time employees are considered critical in response to emergency situations and may be deemed essential as needed depending on the situation
  • Employees in this position will be required to complete the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification Levels 100, 200, 700 and 800 within the first six months of employment

Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server products
  • Knowledge of networking, routing, and switching protocols and proper network design infrastructure
  • Excellent working knowledge of Windows network environments, including but not limited to: Windows Server OS and applications, Anti-Virus programs, TCP/IP connectivity, Internet, and MS Office Suite
  • Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of information technology systems
  • Skill in planning, organization, and decision making
  • Ability to produce written documents in the English language with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar

Pay & schedule

  • Salary range: $67,275 - $90,563
  • Full Time, Non-Bargaining, Exempt position
  • Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday
  • Position is in-person / on-site at the Utilities Building located at 1900 2nd Avenue North, Lake Worth, FL 33461
  • This position is covered under the GRIP Grant and will expire on the same date that the grant expires
