Summary
The Lewis and Clark County Attorney's Office is recruiting for a Grant Technician to work with the High Intensity Drug Task Force Grant. Under general supervision of the County Attorney, this position provides grant administration, account management and reporting services for the High Intensity Drug Task Force (HIDTA) and provides administrative support to federal prosecutions.
Requirements
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in office management, Business Administration, Accounting, Legal Studies, or a related field and two (2) years’ experience in accounting, finance, or grants administration.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides grant administration, account management, and reporting services for HIDTA;
- Provides administrative support to prosecutions;
- Maintains and monitors expenditures according to grant stipulations;
- Collects statistical, financial, budgetary, and operational information;
- Performs accounting and tracking functions for the HIDTA grant;
- Collaborates with department, local, state, and federal agencies;
- Researches, prepares, and submits grant applications;
- Compiles financial reports and enforcement reports;
- Determines which cases are large enough to qualify for federal prosecutions with grant funds;
- Manages records;
- Researches databases;
- May prepare and process legal documentation;
- Safeguards/communicates sensitive information;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Montana Code Annotated and federal laws;
- Knowledge of Lewis and Clark County policies and procedures;
- Knowledge of Department policies and procedures;
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures;
- Knowledge of grant administration;
- Knowledge of research and reporting techniques;
- Knowledge of legal codes, court procedures, and administrative rules;
- Knowledge of law enforcement agency procedures (particularly investigation techniques, search warrants, seizure of assets, etc.);
- Knowledge of jurisdictional reach, practices and procedures of local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies;
- Knowledge of court procedures;
- Knowledge of policies and procedures of HIDTA agencies;
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems;
- Knowledge of office procedures and terminology;
- Knowledge of legal document formats and confidentiality requirements;
- Knowledge of structure/content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Special Requirements
- Position is subject to a criminal background check prior to hire and thereafter to assure ongoing ability to access Confidential Justice Information Network (CJIN) as prescribed by CJIN/NCIC policies.
- Local and area travel during the business day is occasionally required.
Physical Demands
- Duties are generally performed in an office environment where hazards and discomforts are controlled and modifiable.
- This position requires the ability to stand, bend at the waist, kneel, reach over the head, talk, hear, and see.
- Must be able to move or lift documents and materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Requires knowledge and use of typical office equipment including telephone, copiers, fax machines and personal computer.
