Schedule

Coverage is 7am – 7am for call only. Onsite orientation required the day prior.

Onsite Orientation: Wednesday, 11/27/2026
24-hour call shifts: 11/27 – 11/29, ending 11/30 at 0700
24-hour call shifts: 12/19 – 12/22, ending 12/23 at 0700

About the Role

UP Health System Portage is seeking a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon to provide call coverage in our ASC-verified Level III Trauma Facility. The ideal candidate will have skills in Total Joints as well as general orthopaedics to complement our well-established, reputable practice.

This position involves covering Emergency Department call on a rotating basis. The surgeon will only need to come in if the Emergency Department requests a consult. Typically, cases are bread-and-butter orthopaedics; sick or complicated patients are transferred.

Responsibilities

Provide call coverage for the Emergency Department as needed.
Consult on cases including fractures, sports injuries, and general orthopaedic issues (no spine cases).

General Surgeons manage the wound care clinic.
Orthopaedic PAs and full surgical staff available.
Completely digital radiology department.
Facility lodging preferred if available.
