About the role

Fleet Maintenance Mechanic I position available in the Maintenance department. This role is responsible for performing skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive, construction, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of automotive, construction, and related equipment.
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines appropriate repairs.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups.
  • Repairs and replaces parts such as brakes, engines, transmissions, and electrical components.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices.
  • Maintains records of repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • May operate vehicles and equipment to test repairs.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire.

Skills

  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of automotive, construction, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
  • Skill in diagnosing mechanical problems and determining appropriate repairs.
  • Skill in operating a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Ability to maintain records of repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.
