About the role
Fleet Maintenance Mechanic I position available in the Maintenance department. This role is responsible for performing skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive, construction, and related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of automotive, construction, and related equipment.
- Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines appropriate repairs.
- Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups.
- Repairs and replaces parts such as brakes, engines, transmissions, and electrical components.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices.
- Maintains records of repairs and maintenance performed.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- May operate vehicles and equipment to test repairs.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire.
Skills
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of automotive, construction, and related equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
- Skill in diagnosing mechanical problems and determining appropriate repairs.
- Skill in operating a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Ability to maintain records of repairs and maintenance performed.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.
