About the role
Under general supervision, performs skilled journey-level mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive, heavy equipment, and light equipment. Performs related work as required.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of automotive, heavy equipment, and light equipment.
- Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines appropriate repairs; inspects, tests, and adjusts vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups.
- Repairs and replaces engines, transmissions, brakes, differentials, electrical systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, and other vehicle components.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.
- Maintains accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- May provide guidance and training to lower-level mechanics and helpers.
- Responds to emergency call-outs as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Four (4) years of experience in automotive, heavy equipment, or light equipment repair and maintenance.
- Possession of a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Certification as an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Master Technician is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of automotive, heavy equipment, and light equipment.
- Knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.

Pay
$22.98 - $32.17 hourly
Schedule
- Full-time position.
- Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- May require occasional overtime and emergency call-outs.
