About the role
The Orientation Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for new Owner-Operators (internally known as Business Capacity Owners or BCO’s) joining Landstar, creating a welcoming and supportive onboarding experience that sets the foundation for long-term success. This role requires developing strong relationships and delivering information in an engaging manner.
Responsibilities
- Conduct orientation classroom instruction to introduce new owner-operators to the Landstar systems including internal resources, Landstar guidelines and policies, hazardous materials, regulatory information, and “Decision Driving” skills and techniques.
- Provide an open forum for new owner-operators to ask questions and provide solutions.
- Advise new owner-operators on best practices on how to find Landstar agents and loads.
- Maintain owner operator data in all required systems, updating as necessary.
- Participate in Safety meetings; sometimes during non-business hours, weekends, or off-site.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience as a teacher, trainer, instructor, facilitator, coach, onboarding specialist or one year of experience in operations, sales or customer service.
Preferred Experience
- One year of experience in the transportation or logistics industry.
- One year of experience working directly with the public or in a customer-facing environment.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
