Organ Referral Coordinator

About the role

Under the supervision of the Organ Referral Manager, you will respond to referrals and coordinate with hospitals, transplant centers, other Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs), and DonorConnect staff to manage referrals, imports, flyouts, and miscellaneous calls. You will adhere to DonorConnect and regulatory requirements, complete case follow-up tasks, documentation, and other administrative duties by designated deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Respond to organ and tissue donation referrals in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with hospital staff, transplant centers, and other OPOs for referrals, imports, and flyouts.
• Complete referral and import documentation, case follow-up tasks, and other required records.
• Adhere to DonorConnect policies and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to email, text, and phone communications promptly.
• Contribute as an effective team member, holding yourself and peers accountable.
• Support continuous improvement within the team and organization.
• Demonstrate collaboration and understanding of internal and external teams.
• Complete LMS trainings, timesheets, and other administrative tasks by deadlines.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Maintain an active RN license.
• Minimum of one year of experience as an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse.
• Knowledge of the organ and tissue transplant fields preferred.
• Understanding of the critical care environment.
• Proficiency with computer hardware and software.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and priority-setting skills.
• Excellent public relations, interpersonal, and communication abilities (oral and written).
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work remotely and collaborate with hospital personnel across varying institutional guidelines.
• Willingness to train and assist others.
• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to reason logically, make sound decisions, and consider diverse perspectives.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
