Organ Recovery Coordinator (Respiratory Therapists desired!)
About the role
Sierra Donor Services (SDS) is seeking a dynamic Organ Recovery Coordinator to join our team in saving lives through organ and tissue donation. The ideal candidate will have two plus years of experience in a critical care setting and possess exceptional teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates patient suitability for organ donation by reviewing medical records and consulting with medical staff.
- Collaborates with transplant programs and surgeons to coordinate organ placement and allocation.
- Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery of organs and peri-operative management, including logistics like arranging transportation, ensuring surgical packaging, and preparing lab specimens for shipment.
- Supports donor families and conducts medical/social history interviews.
- Updates donor information into electronic medical record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two plus years prior experience in a critical care setting.
- Flexibility to work day and night shifts, weekends, and some holidays, based on organizational needs.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and multitask.
- Registered Nursing (RN) License.
- Valid Driver’s License with the ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience in respiratory therapy or a similar allied health field is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of organ donation and transplantation processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.

Pay
- Competitive compensation package including up to 176 hours of PTO your first year and up to 72 hours of Sick Time your first year.
Schedule
- Employees will work either day or night shifts (from 8:00 – 8:00).
- Night shift employees receive an additional $5 per hour.
- Work schedules are provided 30 days in advance.
- Employees should plan to work 15 days per month.
