Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of deceased donor transplants, from notification of organ offer to offer acceptance through transplantation.
- Affords recipient and live donor suitability and prepares them for solid organ transplantation.
- Applies recipient and cadaver/live donor selection criteria at time of transplant and coordinates preoperative care for cadaver/live donor and recipient.
- Communicates timely and accurately with transplant surgeons and physicians related to organ offers and with the OPO.
- Schedules and updates all transplants, HLA lab, OPO, and hospital team members through all phases of transplant, donor recovery, pre-transplant admission, OR and anesthesia scheduling and post-transplant.
- Arranges all transportation for organ recovery and/or organ transport as required.
- Contacts transplant recipients for triage/assessment of current status with appropriate documentation and report back to the transplant physicians for determination of candidacy.
- Completes all required UNET documentation at time of organ offer, for acceptance and denial of organs and at time of pre- and post-transplant.
- Completes all required notification and documentation required by transplant program and OPTN.
Qualifications
- Licenses and Certifications: AAH-RMA (American Allied Health-Registered Medical Assistant) OR AAMA-CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants-Certified Medical Assistant) OR AAMP-RMA (American Association of Medical Personnel-Registered Medical Assistant) OR ARMA-RMA (American Registry of Medical Assistants-Registered Medical Assistant) OR AMT-RMA (American Medical Technologists-Registered Medical Assistant) OR NCCT-NCMA (National Center for Competency Testing-Nationally Certified Medical Assistant) OR NHA-CCMA (National Healthcareer Association-Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) OR ABR-OE (Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry) or other nationally recognized credentialing allowing for electronic medical health record (EHR) order entry.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
- 3 years of clinical experience.
