Organ Donation Coordinator [ICU RN or Respiratory Therapist] - 40 hours a week/ DAYS

About the role

New England Donor Services seeks an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse, or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist to serve as a Donation Coordinator. In this role you will respond on‑site to organ donor referrals, provide clinical expertise in donor evaluation, management, allocation and recovery, educate hospital staff, work with donor families to obtain consent, and collaborate with surgical and critical care teams to optimize organs for transplantation.

Responsibilities

• Respond on‑site to organ donor referrals to provide clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation, and organ recovery.
• Educate hospital staff on the donation process.
• Work with donor families to obtain consent for donation.
• Collaborate with multiple surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation.
• Maintain required travel by personal vehicle throughout New England to meet position duties.

Qualifications

• 3‑5 years of clinical/critical care experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• CPTC Certification a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance; must meet NEDS “eligible driver” requirements (age ≥ 21, acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, minimum personal automobile insurance).
• Reliable transportation for extensive travel throughout New England.
• Ideal candidate resides within approximately one hour of New Haven, CT.
