OR Scheduling Coordinator
Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic professional to join us as a Patient Scheduler. You will coordinate the scheduling of surgical procedures with the physicians’ offices, prioritize procedures to ensure efficient patient flow and optimum utilization of OR resources. You will deal with each patient with compassion.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree preferred.
- One year of previous healthcare experience is required, scheduling preferred.
- Insurance verification and gaining prior authorization experience preferred.
- Medical terminology is preferred.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
Additional Duties
- Document scheduling information accurately.
- Monitor, audit and distribute the schedule.
- Obtain precertification/authorization numbers and enter them in the scheduling or registration system.
- Obtain and enter accurate insurance information.
- Answer incoming phone calls.
- Communicate with empathy, clearly and concisely with both patients and physicians.
