Banner University Medical Group and the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science at the University of Arizona-Tucson are seeking one or more optometrists specializing in comprehensive eye care, contact lenses, or pediatrics to join our growing department.

About the Role

The selected individual(s) will focus on specialty contact lenses, pediatrics, or comprehensive eye care, depending on training and experience. Clinical services are provided at the Banner University Medicine Ophthalmology Clinic in Tucson, with 9 half-daily clinical sessions per week. The department includes an ophthalmology residency program with 4 residents per year, and an enthusiasm for teaching is desired. Candidates should also have an interest in clinical research. The position includes an academic faculty appointment with the University of Arizona College of Medicine at a rank consistent with the candidate’s credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialty contact lens, pediatric, or comprehensive eye care services
  • Participate in clinical sessions at the Banner University Medicine Ophthalmology Clinic
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring ophthalmology residents
  • Contribute to clinical research initiatives

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in Optometry from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education of the American Optometric Association
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Arizona State Board of Optometry
  • Comprehensive optometry training or experience
  • For contact lens or pediatric focus: corresponding residency training
