About the Role

This is a part-time, limited-term Optometrist position located at Ironwood State Prison in Blythe, CA (Riverside County). The position may be extended or become permanent. Main communication for this role will be via email.

Schedule

32 hours per week

Pay

Monthly part-time salary range: $6,226.40 to $8,255.20.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces base salary by 3% and provides 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027 for full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 19 and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct examinations of the eye using observation and instruments to determine visual acuity and perception, focus, and coordination to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities.
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of the incarcerated population.
  • Protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.
