Optometrist, Correctional Facility - Calipatria State Prison (CAL)
Job Summary
The Optometrist position(s) at Calipatria State Prison in Calipatria, CA, is a part-time role with a monthly salary range of $3,891.5 to $5,159.50. The position is effective July 1, 2025, under the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).
Duties
- Conducts examinations of the eye using observation and instruments to determine visual acuity and perception, focus, and coordination to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities for the patient.
- Maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must hold a Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited school and be licensed to practice optometry in California. They should also have a minimum of two years of experience in a correctional facility setting.
Benefits
The position is part-time and does not offer benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, or paid time off. Employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees on a prorated basis.
Pay
The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $3,891.5 to $5,159.50.
Schedule
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week.
