Optometrist Responsibilities
- Performing comprehensive eye exams.
- Diagnosing and assisting in the treatment of ocular disease.
- Prescribing corrective lenses or eye medications as needed.
- Providing pre and post-operative care to surgical patients.
- Promoting healthy vision by counseling and educating patients.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and correctional staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Follow all institutional policies and procedures, including security protocols.
- Educate patients on eye health, hygiene, and preventive care.
Optometrist Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree and active state license.
- Experience in primary care, community health, or correctional healthcare preferred.
- Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and security-conscious environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics.
General Information
- Schedule: 6 hours per day visiting patients plus paperwork.
- Schedule: 2 weekdays per week.
- Number of Patient Visits Per Visit: 22-25 patients per visit, preventative care.
- Part Time Compensation: $100.00 - $125.00 per hour.
