Optometrist, Correctional Facility - California Correctional Institution (CCI)

Duty Statement

The Optometrist, Correctional Facility, under the general direction of the Receiver’s Medical Executive, conducts examinations of the eye using observation and instruments to determine visual acuity and perception, focus, and coordination to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities for the patient.

Maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

This part-time position will be working 20 hours per week. The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $3891.50 to $5159.50.

Responsibilities

• Conducts examinations of the eye using observation and instruments to determine visual acuity and perception, focus, and coordination to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities for the patient.
• Maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

Requirements

• Current California Optometry license.
• Experience in correctional facilities preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a bachelor's degree in optometry.
• At least two years of experience in optometry.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge of correctional facility policies and procedures.

Benefits

Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Pay

The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $3891.50 to $5159.50.
