Optometric Technician

Vision Health Specialties is seeking an Optometric Technician I to join our dedicated team in Midland, TX. Our mission is to save eyes and spark joy through exceptional vision care.

Responsibilities

• Support optometrists by performing pre-screening tests and assisting with exams
• Collect patient medical histories and explain vision benefits clearly and confidently
• Train patients on contact lens use and care
• Verify insurance, schedule appointments, and keep communication flowing smoothly
• Coordinate patient flow and contribute to a seamless, high-quality experience
• Collaborate with your team to meet goals and deliver exceptional care
• Welcome and prepare patients for their eye examinations
• Obtain patient medical and ocular histories
• Perform preliminary testing, including visual acuity, autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, and other diagnostic procedures
• Assist the doctor during examinations and procedures as needed
• Educate patients on contact lenses, eyewear, and treatment plans
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records
• Clean and maintain exam rooms and equipment
• Support front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and answering phones when needed
• Contact lens training, education, and ordering

Requirements

• 1+ year of customer service experience (optometric or medical experience is a plus)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong multitasking and organizational abilities in a fast-paced setting
• A team player with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting patient information
• Flexibility and a proactive attitude toward supporting team success
