Optometric Technician

About the role

Adventure Dental, Vision and Orthodontics in Lakewood, CO is seeking an Optometric Assistant to administer visual tests, operate diagnostic equipment, and help with eyewear fittings. This position reports to the Lead Optometric Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Understand, monitor, and ensure the smooth execution of office processes, including coding and optometric materials, insurance benefits, patient collection, and documentation
• Call patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, no-shows, and recalls
• Support optometrists during eye exams by preparing patients, performing initial pre-tests, and recording results
• Accompany patients and parents during exams to pre-test the patient and assist the optometrist in scribing and finding a good fit for glasses
• Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, color vision, stereo, confrontations, pupils, ICT, and administer dilation drops
• Help patients select frames and lenses based on prescriptions
• Process patient payments during check-in and check-out
• Ensure the practice is clean and presentable to patients, including cleaning restrooms, patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
• Participate in other duties that support the mission of providing high-quality and compassionate dental, vision, and orthodontic services to underserved children

Requirements

• Previous experience in a vision practice is a plus
• Ability to tech, scribe, and perform optometric tasks
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency in EHR systems
• Ability to train and lead a team of Optometric Assistants
• Ability to multitask and complete tasks correctly and on time
• Preferred knowledge of optometric online software/database, Intero Order processing systems, Google Docs, and Document Portal Spreadsheet software
• Bilingual is a plus

Pay

Pay range: $16.50–$22/hour, plus monthly bonus opportunities.
