About the role
The University Eye Center (UEC) of the State University of New York College of Optometry seeks a talented and enthusiastic New York State-licensed optician. The ideal candidate will interact with faculty, staff, optometric students, and patients daily, providing exceptional customer service and fitting expertise.
Responsibilities
- Explain proper frame selection, lens materials, and designs to patients.
- Provide exemplary fitting and adjusting skills.
- Work with vision insurance plans.
- Be sales savvy and stay updated on current trends and developments in lenses and eyewear.
- Be flexible with scheduling needs of the department.
Requirements
- Current New York State Opticians’ License.
- Ability to commit to a schedule including evenings and Saturdays.
- Experience with electronic medical records and knowledge of vision care plans.

This is a New York State Civil Service position with a starting total annual salary of $65,047 and a generous benefits package. Benefits include:
