About the role

South Georgia North Florida Eye Partners offers a variety of eye care services including detection and treatment of eye diseases and injuries, advanced procedures like LASIK and cataract surgeries, and an on-site Optical Shop with designer frames and sunglasses. We serve multiple locations including Valdosta, Tifton, and Douglas.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality optical care and outstanding customer service to diverse customer bases (pediatric, adolescent, adult).
• Assist patients with eyeglasses ordering and fittings.
• Demonstrate high-level product knowledge to recommend specific accessories and enhancements for glasses.
• Interpret prescriptions and communicate with physicians regarding eye-related issues.
• Inspect lenses, measure sizes, and mount lenses in holding tools or chucks.
• Select frames based on style and color, ensuring they match facial and eye measurements and prescriptions.
• Recommend appropriate contact lenses based on prescription and lifestyle needs.
• Verify finished lenses meet specifications and set up machines for polishing, beveling, edging, or grinding.
• Repair broken/damaged frames and educate on proper wear, care, and contact lens use.
• Order contact lens supplies and instruct patients on proper insertion, removal, and care.
• Use lensometers, slit lamps, keratometers, and radius scopes to verify and mark up progressive lenses.
• Troubleshoot patient prescriptions and act as a liaison between patients and physicians.
• Maintain contact lens trial inventory and ensure accurate documentation and tracking.
• Arrange and maintain optical merchandise displays.
• Attend training workshops and meetings as scheduled.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• ABO Certified.
• Minimum 2 years eyecare experience.
• Minimum Associates or equivalent and on-the-job training or post-secondary education.
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to demonstrate eye-hand coordination, manual/finger dexterity, agility, and color vision and depth perception.
• Able to navigate multiple system applications.
• Strong communication and team-building skills.
