About the role

Opticians play a crucial role in our business, focusing on fitting patients with the right eyewear and lenses. They ensure that patients receive personalized recommendations and maintain excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Sell eyewear and accessories to patients
• Fit patients with appropriate frames and lenses based on prescriptions and lifestyle needs
• Provide comprehensive explanations of customized products and services
• Build and retain a client base through exceptional service and referrals
• Stay updated on company and industry products, procedures, and lens/frame options
• Take and return patient calls, addressing order statuses and resolving issues
• Retrieve and update patient charts and electronic health records
• Aid patients in selecting frames, lens types, and treatments
• Educate patients on eyewear and contact lens care
• Measure eyes and faces for proper fit
• Interpret prescriptions and create work orders for lab technicians
• Follow up on orders, verifying timely delivery and informing patients of status
• Inspect and adjust eyewear for visual acuity, comfort, and fit
• Use tools like pupilometers, PD sticks, lensometers, pliers, wrenches, frame warmers, etc.
• Communicate with technicians and managers, providing additional information or order statuses
• Clean and polish lenses, organize work areas, and maintain cleanliness
• Sell complementary products and answer patient inquiries
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• One year of experience as an optician preferred
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Outstanding customer service skills and sales experience preferred
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Dependable and punctual
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for up to 8 hours per day
