About the role

Opticians play a crucial role in our business by fitting patients with the right eyewear and accessories based on their prescriptions and lifestyle needs. They ensure patient satisfaction and repeat business through excellent service and referrals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patients are fitted with the right-size frames that meet their needs and lifestyle
• Dispense lenses with the correct prescription and measurements
• Provide patients with a comprehensive understanding of customized recommendations for products and services
• Develop a clientele through outstanding service and referrals
• Stay updated on company and industry products, manufacturer rebates, and types of lenses and frames available
• Take and return patient calls, updating them on the status of their order and resolving issues as necessary
• Retrieve patient charts and electronic health records
• Aid patients in selecting frames, lens types, and lens treatments based on their specific needs and facial measurements
• Inform patients about proper eyeglass and contact lens care
• Measure eyes and faces to ensure proper fit
• Interpret prescriptions and create work orders for lab technicians
• Follow up on all pending orders, verifying they are delivered within time guidelines and informing patients of their status
• Inspect final products for flaws, clean and polish lenses, and maintain cleanliness of the store
• Replenish retail boards with new merchandise
• Answer patients' questions about insurance, warranties, products, materials, services, pricing, upgrades, promotions, etc.
• Collaborate with technicians, front desk associates, managers, and optometrists
• Sell miscellaneous products like cleaners, contact lens supplies, sunglasses, and safety glasses
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• One year experience working as an Optician preferred
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Outstanding customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Dependability and punctuality
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for up to 8 hours per day
