About the role

Opticians play a crucial role in our business by selling eyewear and accessories to patients, ensuring they are fitted with the right size frames and lenses.

Responsibilities

• Sell eyewear and accessories to patients
• Ensure patients are fitted with the right-size frames and lenses
• Provide patients with a complete understanding of customized recommendations for products and services
• Develop own clientele through excellent service and referrals
• Stay updated on company and industry products, procedures, manufacturer rebates, and lens/frame types
• Take and return patient calls, update patients on order status, and resolve issues
• Retrieve and organize patient charts and electronic health records
• Aid patients in selecting frames, lens types, and treatments
• Educate patients on proper eyewear and contact lens care
• Measure eyes and faces for proper fit
• Interpret prescriptions and create work orders for lab technicians
• Follow up on orders, verify timing, and inform patients of status
• Inspect and adjust eyewear for proper fit and comfort
• Clean and polish lenses and maintain store cleanliness
• Collaborate with technicians, managers, and optometrists
• Sell miscellaneous products like cleaners, contact lens supplies, sunglasses, and safety glasses
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• One year experience as an Optician preferred
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, sales experience preferred
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Dependable and punctual
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for up to 8 hours per day
